Freeway quit after the second album, while Joe Allen took over his role on and from the "Open Wound" demo.

Biography

Abscess is based in the Frisco area of California and formed (I guess) sometime in 1994 by Chris Reifert, Danny Coralles, Clint Bower and Freeway. They released their first demo, "Demo #1", in 1994 and their second one, "Raw Sick & Brutal Noise", the same year.
In 1995 the third demo, "Crawled Up From The Sewer", was recorded, along with a rare tape called "Filthy Fucking Freaks (live on the radio).
The first CD, "Urine Junkies", was released the same year on Relapse Records. This is actually just a re-mastered collection of the first three demos (one song from "RSBN" is actually excluded).
So the first real album, ("Seminal Vampires and Maggotmen") was recorded in 1996, also on Relapse Records. The last piece of music released on that label was the "Throbbing Black Werebeast" EP, which so far is my favourite.
They got dropped by Relapse and recorded another demo in 1998, called "Open Wound". This got them signed up with Listenable Records (France).
Their new album on this label, "Tormented", has just hit the stores, and a split 10" with Deranged is scheduled to be released sometime this year (2000). Out any day on Ironia/Upground, is a split 7" with Machetazo.
As if that weren't enough, the band did two new songs for a compilation called "Hyperventilation" by Pigeon Records, to be released this autumn (2000).

Chris Reifert played the drums on Death's legendary debut-album "Scream Bloody Gore".
He was the co-founder and frontman of the now classic band Autopsy.
He has also appeared in bands such as Doomed (guitar/drums), Nuclear Death (backing vocals) and Immortal Fate (backing vocals).
Chris was also supposed to do the vocals on Dismember's "Death Metal" album, but couldn't due to an operation.
Out in October on Hammerheart Records, is the sideproject of Reifert, Killjoy, (Necrophagia / Viking Crown / Eibon) and Dan Lilker, (Brutal Truth / Anthrax / Nuclear Assault / Exit-13), called "Ravenous" entitled "Assembled in Blasphemy".

Danny Coralles, former member of Autopsy, also appeared in Doomed. I read he played in a band called Bloodbath before Autopsy but I don't know if it's true.

Freeway was the drummer in Immortal Fate and on the first Doomed EP. He also played the bass on several tracks on Autopsy's "Shitfun" album.

Clint Bower was a member of Hexx, and played the bass on two tracks on Autopsy`s "Shitfun" album.

Joe Allen, I heard he was a former member of Von.
